Northern Bottling Distributors LTD

Northern Bottling Distributors LTD Website

Northern Bottling Distributors LTD (NBDL), one of Grande Prairie’s oldest family-run businesses, wanted to develop a website that would provide their clients access to an online ordering system, share their community involvement, and that would tell the story of their history in the region.

With a rich history in Grande Prairie, we were excited to tell their story through their website:

“Our story begins in 1937 when Northern Bottling Limited was successful in starting a Soft Drink Bottling Operation after taking over the lot where Olivers, an old livery stable where you could store your horse and carriage once was, in what is now downtown Grande Prairie. We started by producing Pete’s Northern Orange and Pete’s Ginger Ale and in 1938 secured representation of the most famous and largest selling soft drink in the world, Coca-Cola.

A lot has changed since our opening, including our name, changing to Northern Bottling Distributors Ltd. in the 1970s and securing the Canada Dry franchise in 1976, but a lot has also remained the same.

Here’s what has changed with the help and support of our community. We’ve grown from four employees to 50 full-time and part-time professionals. We’ve expanded our space three times to meet the demand before moving to our current location, and most recently in 2019, NBDL expanded into Northeast British Columbia. Oh, we also don’t need to cap the bottles by hand anymore!

We’ve been honoured to have the opportunity to aid in the production of a wide-range of products, starting with Pete’s Original and moving into reverse osmosis (RO) bottled water and flavoured sparkling waters. Perfecting our craft each time.

NBDL was the first bottler in Canada to produce and recycle its own plastic bottles. As an engineer by trade, this was an important step in the business for Ken Orchuk Sr. when he took over from his dad in the 70s. Today, we continue to look for innovative ways to better the experience of our partners, clients, and community enjoyers. When you savor a product supplied by NBDL, you can be confident in its standards.

Now leading in his grandfather and father’s footsteps, Owner and General Manager, Ken Orchuk Jr., who’s worked in the business since he was 13-years-old, continues to serve and give back to the community that has given so much to him and his family.”

M3M Marketing provided the copywriting, connected NBDL to a photographer and managed the Web Development project.
